Hi David,I lived in Bay Shore in my younger life. (1971) I probably would not regonize it now.Teach wrote: ↑Mon Oct 08, 2018 9:23 amHello, my name is David and I live in Long Island NY at least for another year and then down to Florida. Looking forward to the Ryker coming out love the price point and will be making a decision soon on Ryker or Spyder. Excited and eager to learn and get as much information from this group.
Thanks
As for the bikes I rode them both this week (test ride) and they are very differant to say the least.
Your choice will greatly depend on your personal riding choices. long distance touring would be the Spyder. Double up would be the spyder.
The Ryker fits my riding choices the best. FM roads, some gravel roads, cruseing ,exploring back roads and such.
Recommendyou do a good test ride on both.

The good news:
First Ryker Rally ride yesterday when I drove it home from the store. Been looking for an alternative to my Kawi Versys for two-up riding since I'm getting too busted up and old to feel comfortable doing it anymore on MC. I bought a Slingshot back in 15 but it's really a car, specially after I put the quad kit on it. The Spyder always looked too - I dunno what, it just didn't do it for me, but the more naked, smaller, lighter and lower Ryker is just right. Only thing, I wish it had cruise control. And maybe one of those fancy front ends that lean like a MC. Otherwise, what a blast!
Very unique feel to acceleration, unlike anything I've driven before. due to the CV transmission and the limited traction, acceleration (which is Nice!) at WOT feels the same from 0 to 85 (fastest I went so far). Probably isn't, but that's the way it feels.
The Bad news:
All 75 miles home, very conservative driving mostly interstate, was a great ride, no problems. But next to my house is a wide open area where it's safe to practice handling so I practiced that, working gradually up to the limits. Last five minutes was constant max hard turns in both directions. Then parked bike and a big cloud of burning oil smoke surrounded me. It was burning off the muffler and dripping from bottom of machine, left small puddle on floor. Can't see where oil is coming out.
Anybody else had oil blowing from engine practicing 'track day' turns?
Oh yeah CanAm, about those brakes, it takes a gorilla to get max braking. Will be looking for more aggressive pads or some other fix.

Hi guys & gals! I'm new to the forum from Chicago. I'm interested in the Ryker. But I'm 6'6" so I'll see if it'll work for me. I'm looking forward to learning more from my new friends.

Hello all,
New to the Spyder/Ryker family and actually still do not have one yet.
Getting really interested in the Ryker so will probably have questions later.
Really enjoy seeing all the bikes and the mods everyone is doing

Hi Gang,
I'm Mikey and I live around Clearwater in Floriduh. I rode dirt bikes (YZ80s) about 35 years ago, but never actually went any further. I'm looking at the Ryker as my first real bike. So, of course, I'm doing lots of research on it and this looks like a good spot to soak up some info.
Cheers.

Hi,
My name is Ron I'm new here. I'm 70 years young. I live in St. Louis Mi. I got my Ryker Rally two days ago. I got the windshield, rear seat, back bag,
air defectors are on order. It's in the 20 ' s here. I put 40 mi. on yesterday and 50 today. I live on gravel roads and they are solid ice , but the Ryker did
great. This thing is a blast to ride !! Can't wait for tomorrow.
