Re: Cracked Wheel Nuts
Great question. I’d like to know what the original torque spec was before Can Am changed it to 221 ft lbs.
Re: Cracked Wheel Nuts
I reported this to BRP this morning. They didn't seem too concerned but I made it clear to the rep Ben that I did not feel comfortable that this was the second cracked wheel nut i found in less than 3 weeks on a new unit. The generic reply was "take it to the nearest dealership as soon as possible". I made it clear that I was not an isolated incident and that there were facebook groups online with pictures of the cracked wheel nuts on different rykers. I dont think BRP is not taking this seriously. I told Ben they needed to do something quickly before someone gets seriously hurt because of these defective wheel nuts.

The cracked wheel nut is a serious safety issue. It happened to me a few weeks ago and I contacted can am. At first they acted like they never heard of the issue before but I have seen online where one guy said his wheel fell off while he was riding because of the cracked wheel nut. When I called can am, I made it clear i was not going to pay for the replacement because that was a manufacturer defect. They advised me to take it to the nearest dealership which I did the next day. They promptly replaced the cracked wheel nut. They said I was lucky because the crack was not very noticeable but it was very unsafe to ride with the crack because the wheel could have just fallen off while riding.
Was yours on Front or Back Wheel ??
