I intend on ordering a Rally very soon, but had a question regarding upgrading seats, etc.

For example, if I order the comfort seat would I retain the original seat to keep? If not, wouldn't it be better to order stock and pay the same exact price for the comfort seat and install myself AND keep the original seat?

I have Rally and like you I ordered the comfort seat and dealer gave me the foam seat back to me. I am sure your dealer will do same

You will get the stock seat included with the bike. The Comfort Seat is an accessory, meaning you will have 2 seats when you are all done. And install is nothing more than pulling off the old seat and snapping the Comfort Seat in place. It's not like ordering a car with a certain trim level. All Rally's come from the factory the same as do the other 2 model's.
