WHY Does The Ryker Get such POOR MPG???
Re: WHY Does The Ryker Get such POOR MPG???
You folks getting 34 35 mpg should feel lucky, I live in the Smoky Mountains and mine gets 28 MPG tops! its ok and I drive it to work year round from the top of my mountain ridge to downtown Gatlinburg but after being used to 350cc and around 70 MPG i have some adjusting to do lol.

High RPMs and high spurts of speed will kill fuel economy. It's a CVT and does not have gearing to give you the fuel economy that you wish for. My Harley Softail gets fuel mileage in the 40's and would probably get better IF I had a sixth gear like newer models. My Ryker is rated at higher horse power than my Harley, but it doesn't matter to me. If I wanted speed, I would purchase a "crotch rocket." If I wanted fuel economy, I would purchase a scooter or moped.

I have both. i need the power to climb mountains here, so im ok with the crappy fuel econony. in a month and a half put 700 miles on it and usually 6 bucks a week of 93 keeps it happy for the 8 mile trip to work and back again. My scooter gets 100 mpg but it was never designed for mountains so its rough on the frame. not to mention the 18 percent grade tough on the smaller (big bored) engine.. The ryker handles well. Watch a video of the dragons tail here lol. thats my ride to and from work daily in all weather enviornments.

I know a little about the Dragon's Tail. I lived in Statesville, NC before I moved down here (Florida). Everyone should also drive the Skyline Drive sometime in their life.Mblade69 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 6:35 amI have both. i need the power to climb mountains here, so im ok with the crappy fuel econony. in a month and a half put 700 miles on it and usually 6 bucks a week of 93 keeps it happy for the 8 mile trip to work and back again.
