Why Does My 600 Sound Like A Two-Stroke?

#1 Post by Aufgeblssen47 » Thu May 02, 2019 9:31 am

At steady moderate speeds, say at 40 MPH, and whilst decelerating from a variety of speeds, engine or transmission is NOT smooth, and sounds like a two-stroke engine! (rat-tat-tat-tat)

Anyone else notice this phenomenon? 8-)

That's the main reason I bought a 900.

So you test rode 600?

I'm not saying anything is wrong with it, as I thought my 2-stroke bikes sounded cool. Just curious if others have noticed it.

I think that's partially just from it being an inline twin. My 600 is the same way. I like the sound as well.

My '74 Honda CB450 DOHC was an inline twin, but not like that.
