Did You Or Will You Switch To FULL Synthetic Oil Upon 1st Oil Change?
Just curious! I certainly will. In addition, I think I will be able to safely increase change interval to 9,000 miles doing thusly.

I have used Mobil 1 in all my cars and bikes for many years. Never a issue and will continue to use it.
And I’ll continue to change oil and filter every 3000
miles. Oil and filter are cheap insurance with the RPM these motors are turning I believe one would be foolish to go 5,6,9 thousand miles to save $50.00. JMHO.

I used Delvac One from truck stops in my big rig Volvo truck at 1st, until I found out from Mobil that Mobil 1 5W-40 Synthetic Heavy Duty Diesel Oil is identical but quite a bit cheaper (from Walmart) than Delvac 1 5W-40. After that, I found the the Chevron Delo is equivalent, cheaper at Walmart, and more readily available too. That is what I will be switching to. Or Maybe even Shell Rotella.

That is massive overkill!!! You can EXTEND the 6,000 mile interval with a high quality synthetic, NOT decrease it! DO NOT fall fall the legacy (60s & 70s) notion that 3,000 miles is maximum!!! Try this: Go to 6,000 mile. Do oil analysis. I am 99% confident it will say your oil is still like new, and good for another 6,000 miles!!!Decon Blue wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2019 9:56 amI have used Mobil 1 in all my cars and bikes for many years. I extended my VW JETTA TDI (diesel) change interval from 10,000 miles safely to 20,000 miles. It now has 270,000 mile and runs great!
I also extended the normal 20,000 miles dino oil change interval in my big rig Volvo truck engine to as much as 130,000 miles! Saved a BUNCH of money and time! Had over 1,000,000 miles when I sold it.

Being a retired mechanic I can state without a doubt it is not overkill. And by the way, at what RPM were the Diesel engines running at 60-70 mph compared to these. And yes, I’ve had many oil analysis done over the years when I was running SCCA cars. Your barking up the wrong tree if you think you can school me on engine wear and the importance of clean oil and filters. Then again if you only ride 2000-3000 miles a year then you will have nothing to worry about. LolAufgeblssen47 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2019 10:35 amThat is massive overkill!!! I bet you don't realize that a dirty filter filters BETTER than a new one.Decon Blue wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2019 12:07 pmBeing a retired mechanic I can state without a doubt it is not overkill. With that train of though next you’ll be saying a used condom works better than a new one. And yet all this vast amount of knowledge comes from an individual that can’t even read the owners Manuel to learn how to properly check the oil level. You sir are the perfect example of why there’s a lot of misinformation on the internet.

Re: Did You Or Will You Switch To FULL Synthetic Oil Upon 1st Oil Change?
Unless I am convinced otherwise, I will probably go to a synthetic blend when I get the oil change. BUT, since I live in Florida and it gets pretty hot, I may be convinced to go with a total synthetic oil. I am still listening to others' experiences on this matter and do not claim to be anything close to an expert. I do know that when I changed on my Harley, I think it was my tranny that I could not use a true synthetic because of some sort of slippage or something. Of course, when I changed lubes, I had three different areas on the bike to change. I didn't do it myself, like I used to do with my cars. I took it to a dealer for my scheduled maintenance. I'll likely do the same with my Ryker when it is time for it's annual physical..

Absolutely no reason to not switch to the advantages of synthetic in the Ryker. There is no wet clutch so any automobile synthetic will work fine as long as it meets the viscosity and API ratings.
