Re: WHY Does The Ryker Get such POOR MPG???
My milage is getting much better the more miles on the bike. I have 1300 miles and its crept up to 32.8 MPG. 40 would be awsome but Im happy.
Re: WHY Does The Ryker Get such POOR MPG???
I am 77 years old and have been riding motorcycles since age 13. Love to tour and explore back roads just to see where they go. Got the Ryker because a Goldwing is just too heavy for an old fart like me. Bought the 600 because it should get better gas mileage than the 900 and also costs $1,500 less. Have had the 600 to 90mph which is fast enough for this old rider. I ride in Arizona and some of the backroads require a long distance between gas stations, so range on the 5.28 gallon tank keeps me from running out of gas in the desert. My fun factor is no longer burning rubber it is still being able to ride the backroads and take photos. The Ryker is good in the wind and will enable me to handle gravel and dirt roads when I encounter them. So the cost of gas isn't a big deal, but the range is very important since the Ryker is still pretty hard to push in the hot sun.
Re: WHY Does The Ryker Get such POOR MPG???
Forgot to mention that I am getting about 39 mpg on my 600 and have about 3,000 miles on the Ryker. RPMs do seem to be very high for the speed. Wish there was an overdrive for flatland cruising. I have also been using 91 octane gasoline, but have seen some posts that claim 87 octane runs fine and does not take a performance or mileage hit. Any comments on this?

Ive only used 87 in my Rally 900 and its so fast that I dont see a need for 91 grade . 32.8 mpg.eco mode.

Re: WHY Does The Ryker Get such POOR MPG???
I just bought a VW Touareg TDI. It is a pretty heavy SUV, not as aerodynamic as a car, and has a 240 HP 3.0L V-6 engine. I'm getting 33-35 MPG, so a little HIGHER than my Ryker.

Run it at the same revs as a Ryker then comment how economical it is!Aufgeblssen47 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 10:54 amI just bought a VW Touareg TDI. It is a pretty heavy SUV, not as aerodynamic as a car, and has a 240 HP 3.0L V-6 engine. I'm getting 33-35 MPG, so a little HIGHER than my Ryker.

That is NOT an accurate way to compare! An RC airplane with a Cox engine runs at a MUCH higher RPM than Ryker, but gets 1000s of MPG!!!Frenchy wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 1:42 amRun it at the same revs as a Ryker then comment how economical it is!Aufgeblssen47 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 10:54 amI just bought a VW Touareg TDI. Besides, my Yamaha Majesty scooter ran at 5,000 RPM @ 60 MPH, but I still got 50+ MPG.

If poor MPG is your only complaint you should buy a pedal bike
